Summary

For many years, the Academy has produced the most outstanding array of exciting, versatile, creative and employable musicians to emerge on to the jazz scene. We offer a supportive environment in which to learn and experiment with this extremely broad art form. We encourage our students to find their own creative voice and equip them with the skills needed to enable them to pursue a future as working jazz musicians. The Academy jazz course benefits from small numbers, enabling students to receive a personalised education and close support throughout their studies. All Jazz candidates are initially assessed by video recording as Round One of the audition process; the deadline for your video upload is 27 October 2023, midday UK time.

Postgraduate students are a vital part of the Academy’s musical culture, working in a uniquely collaborative performance environment ideally suited to helping talented musicians — from across the globe — to achieve their musical ambitions.

The PGCert is designed as an option for postgraduate students who cannot meet the academic entry requirements for the MA. You are provided with the full range of MA tuition. If you meet the learning outcomes of the MA you will gain that award. The standard course length is two years, though in exceptional cases students can be allowed to take this one-year intensive course. The programme path and length can be discussed at the entrance interview and adjusted as appropriate, you are not tied to the option you choose when you submit your application in UCAS Conservatoires. If you will have a Bachelor Honours degree in any discipline you can apply for Master's study.
