University of Cumbria helps students with cost of living
The University of Cumbria has implemented several cost of living initiatives to help students cope with financial difficulties.
Here are some ways that the university is helping students:
- The Students’ Union regularly serves free hot breakfasts on campus for students and staff.
- They offer ‘Keep Me Going’ pantries (emergency food supplies) at the Carlisle, Ambleside and Lancaster campuses for campus-based students.
- ‘Keep Me Going’ gift cards are available for distance learners and students based at Cumbria’s London and Barrow campuses.
- Free period products are offered at each campus.
- On-campus food outlets offer discounted food towards the end of the day.
- Subsidised travel is available for Ambleside campus students.
- They are offering increased numbers of on-campus part-time work opportunities for students, including roles as Digital Content Creators.
- A range of bursaries are available, including the Cumbria Bursary and Student Support Fund.
