UCL academics ranked in global top 10 for influential researchers
Seventy UCL academics have been featured in this year’s prestigious Highly Cited Researchers List.
Clarivate’s annual Highly Cited Researchers List for 2025 is an authoritative rankings which recognise the most influential researchers in their fields. In this listing, UCL (University College London) ranks eighth in the world and first in the UK for the most researchers – tying with the University of Oxford. Fifty-nine academics cite UCL as their primary affiliation, 11 other UCL academics have another primary affiliation listed.
Speaking about this brilliant achievement, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement) Professor Geraint Rees, said, “I would like to congratulate all of my colleagues at UCL who have been recognised among the world’s most highly cited researchers for their innovative and impactful work. It is a privilege to work alongside such brilliant academics as they make ground-breaking discoveries and push the boundaries of knowledge in a wide range of fields. This is a testament to the strength of our community of researchers, working together to make UCL a world-leading university.”
