Summary
The Urban Mission pathway and the parallel Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate resources creative, transformative and innovative thinking and practice in Urban missions and ministry, and supports continuing professional development. It offers the opportunity to explore approaches to urban mission and ministry and provides a foundation in reading the multiple facets of the city, including its culture, nature, and needs. It engages with different approaches to ministry in urban environments helping to deepen understanding and sharpen practice.
This course is delivered in both Glasgow and Manchester with full-time and flexible part-time routes making study accessible for everyone – wherever you are in the world!
The MA in Theology (Urban Mission) pathway and its parallel Postgraduate Diploma course both have four course units. The Postgraduate Certificate course has two course units. These course units are structured around ten two-and-a-half hour seminars. The seminars are led by specialists in the appropriate disciplines. In-depth reading, group discussion and preparation of written assignments are all included within the course units.
Selected units in the Urban Mission pathway will be delivered in Glasgow, on the campus of SSCM (Scottish School of Christian Mission).

| Entry requirements | Good Honours degree in a relevant subject (exceptional entry considered). International applicants will need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, or its equivalent. Those who do not have the formal qualifications necessary to gain entry directly on to the MA courses are able to apply to the Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate. The Diploma is identical to the MA in all aspects except that the PGDip does not require the completion of a dissertation and it does not require the same standards of achievement. The Postgraduate Certificate requires completion of TWO taught units (60 credits) including required unit(s), does not require the completion of a dissertation and it does not require the same standards of achievement. Students who wish to progress on to complete the MA may do so, provided they have performed at the required level. Non-graduates may be admitted to the PG Certificate on the basis of academic work or a combination of academic and prior experiential learning which indicates that they have reached the level of academic standing equivalent to a graduate. Students who wish to be considered under these provisions should apply to the college for evaluation of their previous experience.
