**Our Water Engineering for Development (Distance Learning) MSc is designed to develop careers for improving the delivery of water supply and environmental sanitation infrastructure and services internationally, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). You will be provided with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to address the changing needs of the market.**
Our Water Engineering for Development (Distance Learning) MSc is designed to develop careers for improving the delivery of water supply and environmental sanitation infrastructure and services internationally, with a focus on low and middle income countries (LMICs). You will be provided with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to address the changing needs of the market.
This programme is managed by the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering whose programmes are well-established and held in high regard by practitioners and employers from international development and emergency sectors. Modules are taught by experts in a broad range of disciplines who have considerable experience of working in low and middle income countries.
The programme will enable you to improve your knowledge, expertise and skills in many aspects of sustainable water supply and environmental sanitation infrastructure delivery and operation. Other topics studied will include flooding, groundwater and piped water system modelling, and water and wastewater treatment. It also includes non-technical modules or sessions that broaden your knowledge base and prepare you for future higher managerial roles.
This programme is designed to:
- Provide knowledge of key concepts and principles to assess and design water and environmental sanitation.
- Provide the multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to assess, design, implement and operate sustainable water and environmental sanitation infrastructure.
- Develop appropriate analytical skills for water in the natural environment and piped systems using computer models and other approaches.
- Develop a critical approach to the global principles and local practice of sustainable public health infrastructure for all levels of consumers.
- Encourage critical analysis through an in-depth study of one specialist topic.

By studying our MSc Water Management for Development (Distance Learning), you will benefit from working alongside specialists who are enthusiastic about their subjects and at the forefront of current research. This interaction provides you with a stimulating learning experience.
Comprehensive resources are available on the online learning environment (LEARN) for each module, including study guidance, highly illustrated unit notes, additional reading materials, ReVIEW Lecture Capture (recordings of class sessions from the equivalent and concurrently running full-time MSc programme), YouTube clips of laboratory procedures and experimental setups, self-assessment questions and answers, and subject-specific references and texts.
Distance learning courses can be studied part-time to fit with your employment commitments. We now also offer a full-time option to allow you to complete your master's degree in one year, wherever you are in the world.

Distance learning courses can be studied full-time or part-time. We offer this full-time, distance learning option to allow you to complete your master's degree in one year, wherever you are in the world. We offer our part-time option to allow you to distribute your studies over a period of years.
