Summary

This is a joint programme in health policy, offered by LSE and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). You will have the opportunity to have close contacts with leading research centres in the field of health policy, such as LSE Health and Social Care, based in the Department of Health Policy.

This programme aims to develop critical analysis of issues within the areas of health policy, planning and financing, and enable you to devise appropriate health policy responses. You will learn financing models for health care, health economics, health policy and politics, and explore the many challenges facing modern health care systems. In addition to this you will be able to choose a wide range courses, allowing you to specialise in a specific field or explore a variety of topics. This programme provides training relevant to countries at all levels of development, although participants are able to specialise in issues of common concern to countries with similar health systems and problems.

The programme is taken by students from a wide range of backgrounds including: social science or medical training; health service managers or health care providers and those who have worked in national health care systems, international agencies or NGOs.
