Summary
Environmental economics is playing an increasingly central role in understanding the causes of, and designing policy solutions to, contemporary environmental and resource problems. It has been instrumental in informing policy across the world, for example in the creation of markets for pollutants such as carbon, or the design of new instruments for the conservation of ecosystem services. Students gain a well-developed understanding of environmental and resource economics, its conceptual foundations and practical tools of analysis and will also learn to apply these concepts and methods to the analysis, appraisal and valuation of a wide range of environmental problems and policies.
