Summary

This course is studio-based and research-centred. Developing your personal vision and understanding of collaborative practice, you will create clear and meaningful work to consolidate and strengthen your position as an artist and creative practitioner. You will produce self-initiated work from the outset. Individual tutorials, seminar presentations and practical workshops will support your studies. You will be able to develop a major body of practical work that engages with the context of a critical understanding of contemporary fine art practice.

– You will be able to create artwork in our dedicated MFA studios, on campus next to workshop facilities and the University’s own Stanley Picker Gallery. – You will benefit from regular lectures and discussions with invited artists, writers, curators and creative industry professionals, both in Kingston and at the Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA) in central London. – You will develop your professional knowledge and abilities through one of our Research and Professional Skills modules, and may choose an optional Philosophy module.

Graduates have progressed to careers in curation, arts administration, project management, arts education, PhD study, and have established arts collectives internationally
