Research excellence:
The University of Winchester has continued to develop the quality and range of it’sits research, according to the results of the Research Excellence Framework 2021. With the latest results we have recorded the 17th largest increases in places nationally, as we broke into the top 100 universities. In the same time period, we have also evidenced a notable 147% increase in institutional research power, setting a strong foundation for future research work.
Study options:
Programmes range from PGCEs to a wide selection of MA, MSc, MBA and MRes degrees in arts, business, education, humanities and social sciences. A diverse range of Research degree opportunities (PhD, MPhil, DBA and EdD) are available with dedicated support on hand from the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre.

Study on our beautiful campus which combines impressive historic buildings and modern, award-winning developments, such as the West Downs Centre, recipient of the prestigious RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) South Award 2022.
As a student here, you will benefit from access to our fantastic library and study spaces, which are open seven days a week with some spaces open 24 hours a day (opening times may vary outside of term time). Take advantage of our extensive collection of books and a huge digital library of academic journals, e-books and databases. Use the University App to access your email, timetable, library, resource lists and receive direct targeted University information alongside many more features.
Embrace the wide range of sports facilities available on campus including our gym, fitness studio, sports hall and multi-use games area as well as our Sports Stadium. This features a competition-standard, eight-lane athletics track and all-weather astro pitch. Get fit in our University gym, which offers the latest strength training and cardio equipment, with a team of qualified instructors to set you a specific training programme. We are also proud to be a funding partner of the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park which houses a 50m swimming pool, climbing walls and a range of features next to the Sports Stadium.
Together, the University of Winchester and Winchester Student Union offer more than 200 opportunities for you to get involved – ranging from activity groups, (sports teams, societies and representational networks), to employability prospects and volunteering.

Campus accommodation and university managed housing may be available to full-time postgraduate students. The Student Housing Services team ensure you have quality housing throughout your study and can offer detailed advice on private housing in the city if you want to live off campus.
