Postgraduate study at UAL
UAL is home to more than 2,400 postgraduate students, working across the fields of art, design, screen, fashion, communication, media and performing art at postgraduate level.
Our courses are delivered by inspiring and supportive teaching staff made up of professional artists, practitioners, designers, critics and theorists. Whatever your chosen discipline, a postgraduate course at UAL will allow you to grow creatively and professionally.
We also offer theoretical and practice-based research programmes, leading to a PhD or MPhil award in any subject area where we can provide appropriately qualified supervision. We are ranked among the UK’s top research universities with 83% of our research graded as world-leading and internationally excellent, following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
Each of our Colleges boasts specialist equipment and facilities, including stunning galleries, dramatic workspaces and performance venues. Students have access to a range of learning resources — including archives and special collections, with items dating from the 15th century to the 21st — and can borrow materials from all of the College libraries.
Open Days provide a great opportunity to visit any of our 6 London Colleges. You will get to meet staff and students and gain in-depth information about postgraduate courses, fees and funding. It’s your chance to ask questions, see the studios and facilities and get a real taste of student life at UAL.
