World-class research that will shape your learning and your future
One of the greatest strengths of our postgraduate courses is that they are grounded in – and shaped by – our world-class research.
The most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) review showed that we are doing more research, of better quality, with a bigger impact on the world than ever before. Our world-leading research impact grew more than any other Russell Group university, more than 99% of our research was rated of international quality* and 12 of our subjects were in the top 10 for world-leading impact.**
Our commitment to leading action on the climate emergency is among the strongest in the world. In the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, we ranked in the global top 10 - a reflection of our outstanding commitment to upholding the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
As a University of Exeter student, you will benefit from outstanding education, world-class research and global connections. Guided by groundbreaking research, our students develop the knowledge and skills needed to become tomorrow’s leaders and tackle some of the biggest social, environmental and humanitarian challenges of our time.

“Our group was a melting pot of cultures and perspectives, with members from England, Vietnam, Argentina, Nigeria, and Germany. Collaborating with such a diverse team was both enriching and eye-opening. Each of us brought unique ideas, experiences, and problem-solving approaches to the table, which made our discussions vibrant and our solutions innovative.”

“The Streatham Campus is a blend of modernity and nature, with plenty of green spaces to relax between lectures. The INTO building is a hub for international students like me, offering a space to study, socialise, and access support services.
