Organization and location
Politecnico di Milano is organized in 12 Departments and in 4 Schools, respectively devoted to research and to education.
The university has got two main campuses located in Milan and other seats in nearby towns.
Milan is the heart of the Italian economy and finance; it is the city of innovation, design, fashion and of scientific and technological research.
Lecco lies in the Alps area, on the Como Lake. The campus, recently refurbished, is situated close to the town centre.
Mantova is a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. Politecnico di Milano has selected this location for its Architecture programme focusing on the preservation and enhancement of historical buildings.
Piacenza lies south-east of Milan. Its economy is mainly based on industrial manufacturing, but also on farming and wine production. The Piacenza campus hosts programmes in Mechanical Engineering and on environmental issues (Energy Engineering and Sustainable Architecture), with close links to the territory.
Cremona is the world capital of stringed instruments. Famous violinmakers from Cremona include for instance Antonio Stradivari. Politecnico di Milano offers here a unique MSc programme in Music and Acoustic Engineering in addition to Computer Science and Engineering.
