Postgraduate study at Hartpury University
In a stunning rural setting, Hartpury’s specialist campus provides the ideal postgraduate experience. Our 360-hectare estate, which has seen more than £50million investment over 10 years, is the perfect environment in which to further your studies and open doors to your dream career.
Our outstanding staff will support you to engage in applied study and research as part of Hartpury’s active research community and to make the most of the opportunities available; from our excellent facilities to our industry contacts and providing specialist help with industry placements and research collaborations.
Our 100% postgraduate employment history highlights how Hartpury can help you develop your interests and career aspirations, with many of our postgraduates entering employment directly related to their study; including roles such as veterinary technicians, researchers, lecturers and sports coaches. Others go on to start successful businesses. You can read some of our success stories here, including Amanda Bond’s journey from Hartpury graduate to CEO of British Dressage and Hong Kong Jockey Club Executive Manager.
Students can enrol on to postgraduate study after completing their Honours degree or after time out from education. We consider applicants who might not have a subject-relevant degree but have worked to a high level in industry. Indeed, many of our programmes are aimed at professionals already working in industry and are designed to fit around your other commitments, including work, family and sport.
We offer a range of postgraduate qualifications in Sport, Equine and Animal, including Postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas and Masters level. And our offer is flexible, including block weekend teaching, while some programmes offer distance learning and practice-based activities and projects which can be supported electronically.
We pride ourselves on the exceptional applied research and scholarship. We involve our students in our research, and in many cases, they lead research projects with staff acting as mentors and co-researchers. We also host and visit conferences and work with experts in their field. We’ve recently launched a new applied research Intelligent Youth Athlete Development hub.
To support your studies, there’s a 24-hour postgraduate study area in our University Learning Centre, plus our Graduate Assistantship (GA scheme) offers full-time postgraduate students paid employment within the college. As well as helping to subsidise your programme fees, our GAs develop a range of skills that are prized by future employers. Posts are available in marketing, in the Equine Therapy Centre, in our laboratories and within our Sports Academy to name a few.
And if you are an elite performer or want to progress your career working within high performance sport, Hartpury is as close as it gets to playing, studying, researching and working in a professional club. We’ve produced more than 100 sporting internationals in the last 10 years and you’ll have opportunities to work with elite athletes across men’s and women’s rugby, men’s and women’s football, equine, rowing and multi-sports.
