Drawing on expertise from the fields of economics and law, this distinct course is deeply interdisciplinary and uniquely informed.

Available as a one-year master's or a master's with professional practice (two years). We are living through an unprecedented period of global economic uncertainty and the globalised economy requires business leaders to have a wide range of knowledge and skills relevant to international commercial law. Critical areas include international business law, international trade and the World Trade Organisation, international investment law, and knowledge of the global political economy.

GCU’s innovative LLM in International Commercial Law is both research-led and informed by practice. It has been created with input from employers and students and draws on multi-disciplinary expertise across the Glasgow School of Business and Society.

You will study as part of a diverse and engaged international cohort: there are no jurisdictional requirements and there is no expectation that you have already studied Law at undergraduate level.

The course has been carefully designed to appeal to future business leaders, finance professionals, or those who might already be working in a legal role or have undertaken some legal training.

If you choose our two-year course, International Commercial Law with Professional Practice, during your second year you’ll gain industry experience in a role of your choosing, supercharging your career prospects.

Business, Economics and Law at Glasgow Caledonian University consistently rank highly in league tables and in the National Student Survey. By studying an LLM at Glasgow Caledonian University you’ll have an exceptional opportunity to become a business leader of the future.

Graduate prospects This master's course is a unique offering for law graduates who do not wish to pursue a legal career and have wider academic or professional interests, such as economics and business, and for non-law graduates with an interest in law.

Graduates will be able to pursue a wide range of professions in law and international trade firms, international organisations and institutions, and the public sector.
