This two year part time programme, validated by the University of Hull, offers practitioners an opportunity for challenge and growth by taking part in a programme of study which integrates the principles of psychosexual therapy to the latest clinical understanding of the interactions between culture, love, intimacy and sexual expression, as well as challenges such as the treatment of sexual dysfunctions, sexual trauma, shame and female genital cutting. The course has been granted Course Approval Pending status by the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).

This programme aims to •Provide an advanced professional training at Post-graduate level •Provide a contemporary framework for theoretically informed practice-based training •Provide an innovative theoretical training which integrates practice and clinical supervision •Develop practitioners’ ability for independent learning •Develop practitioners’ professional skills in order to work creatively with a wide variety of clinical presentations, drawn from a wide variety of social contexts •Integrate a wide range of theoretical concepts, research and thinking with the principles of psychosexual therapy •Develop and broaden practitioners’ knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, trauma, shame, medical conditions, paraphilias, sexual behaviour, sexual addiction and female genital cutting •Develop and broaden practitioners’ reflexivity in working ethically with a diverse range of clients, striving to overcome internal biases •Enhance employability in statutory and voluntary sectors, as well as independent practice •Meet COSRT professional requirements As part of the course requirements, students will be expected to attend three CPD days per annum. This can be from the UCD CPD portfolio and/or any relevant COSRT approved training and COSRT conferences.

As part of the course approval pending by COST there is a requirement for 50 hours of personal development and experiential work focussed on self in relation to other. This can consist of personal therapy, personal and professional development group work as part of the course and externally, such as experiential group work. COSRT’s membership at a reduced rate is a mandatory requirement. Whilst on the course students will be granted access to the comprehensive online resources of the University Centre Doncaster Learning Resource Centre. Assessment The course is modular, taking place over a 10 month period in each year, with eight blocks in year one and seven blocks in year two.. There will be an opportunity to access additional online training in year two. Clinical placements will be in an approved clinical setting and involve 200 hours of practice during the two years. We aim to offer two venues for study per year, either at our University Centre Doncaster venue or at Birkbeck College in London*. Students are expected to organise their own supervision whilst on placement; a ratio of one hour of supervision to six hours of clinical practice is needed to satisfy COSRT’s individual accreditation requirements. •There will be a venue surcharge for courses taking place outside of University Centre Doncaster
