Much of our research addresses real-world challenges and issues. Students and staff work in partnership with business, industry and the public sector - so our graduates enjoy some of the highest rates of employment and starting salaries in the UK.
We are one of the safest campus sites in the UK – as voted by the Complete University Guide (Mar 2023). We pride ourselves on our 24 hour Library and Learning Centre, outstanding arts facilities, and a first-class £30m sports complex.
The Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science offers a diverse range of graduate courses and pathways at master’s and doctoral level across five departments:
Postgraduate students benefit from being immersed in a strong research culture, with opportunities for interdisciplinary projects. The Faculty prides itself on its excellence in research in the mathematical, physical and biological spheres, from fundamental studies to applications in industry, medicine and society.
The Doctoral College is the centre of postgraduate research activity, providing informed and tailored support and guidance to all prospective and current postgraduate research students. We also encourage and support interdisciplinary communications within the Faculty, through regular academic and social activities.
The University of Bath, in collaboration with partners, has secured funding from Research Councils for centres and partnerships, most of which are in science-related areas. These provide PhD students with bespoke courses that include taught and research elements, as well as the opportunity to interact with partner institutions, organisations or industry.
