University of Aberdeen: School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture
Study within one of Scotland’s oldest and most culturally rich academic communities.
The School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture (LLMVC) is part of a university founded in 1495, with a long heritage of scholarship in the humanities and creative arts. Today, the School brings together a uniquely interdisciplinary environment where students explore how language, creativity and culture shape our world.
We teach a diverse cohort of undergraduate, postgraduate and research students from across the globe. The wider University community includes around 14,000 students representing over 130 nationalities, fostering a vibrant international environment. Our staff are active researchers, authors, performers and cultural practitioners whose work spans literature, creative writing, linguistics, film, visual culture, folklore, ethnology, and music. Their expertise is reflected in our specialist research centres and networks that support both scholarly and practice based work.
