Birmingham City University: School of Computing and Digital Technology
Birmingham City University
Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment
The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment comprises two schools with a shared vision to create a powerful centre of technological excellence and innovation, and to equip you with the skills you need to succeed in the workplace and contribute to the wider society.
As an institution, we have invested £340 million in our facilities, including a major expansion of our City Centre Campus. In 2022, STEAMhouse, a brand new £70 million facility will become the new home to our Computing and Digital Technology students. This unique centre will give you access to an exceptional learning environment and facilities, as well as opportunities to collaborate with people and businesses across multiple sectors and work on real industry-based projects.
We are recognised internationally for the high quality of our teaching, research and extensive industry partnerships, and have established ourselves as one of the leading academies for Microsoft and Cisco Systems. We are an official Autodesk Training Centre (ATC) and have links with a range of employers including SevenCapital, Savills, Taylor Wimpey, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Jaguar Land Rover.
We offer a range of degrees, spanning Built Environment, Computing and Digital Technology and Engineering. Many of our courses are conversion courses, so you can apply to them with an undergraduate degree in any subject – ideal if you want to change direction or pursue a different career path. Some of our courses offer start dates in both January and September, and many offer a part-time route.
Many of our courses offer you a professional placement route which gives you the opportunity to undertake a six-month placement in industry, meaning you qualify with valuable experience.
We remain at the cutting-edge of new ideas by challenging both staff and students to excel in research and studies. Our teaching and research team is made up of both academics and media industry professionals.
We can help you find information about scholarships, loans and other funding options open to you. When it comes to funding, it’s important to start early. Once you’ve found a place on a course, visit our postgraduate funding pages to find out the funding options open to you.
