Summary

Progress in your career with our Advance Clinical Practitioner course. Designed to equip and enhance the healthcare practitioner with knowledge and skills in the expanding field of advanced practice, especially within secondary care.

This programme has been developed in conjunction with the competency framework for Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) training developed by The Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

Why study this subject? This programme will provide you with the core skills and knowledge required in advanced practice, as well as exploring both the professional and practice elements essential to work at an advanced level. Furthermore, it aims to map to the skills and knowledge framework to assist career development.

Why study at Buckinghamshire New University? The curriculum, designed by our own Senior Lecturers, is in conjunction with the competency framework for Advanced Clinical Practitioner training developed by The Royal College of Emergency Medicine. This has informed the curriculum content and structure of the programme. The course team has a variety of research interests and expertise, including advanced practice, nurse prescribing, emergency care and research design.

What facilities can I use? We've invested in state-of-the-art, simulated clinical skills areas at our Uxbridge campus. You'll be able to regularly spend time in these areas, to practise your technical skills, and use the newest technologies, in a safe and supportive environment.

How will I be taught and assessed? Central to the Advanced Clinical Practitioner educational process is the five year credentialing portfolio, of which a prerequisite is a master's level Advanced Practice award (Royal College of Emergency Medicine, 2015); this programme aims to fulfil this requirement. The evidence-based credentialing portfolio is not part of the programme and should be completed in partnership with your employing organisation.
