What facilities can I use? BNU has invested in our facilities to ensure that you can learn on industry standard systems and software, meaning that you can make an easy transition from education into employment. We have a range of large labs, most filled with dual-screen, dual boot (Windows and Linux) systems. Latest industry standard software is also included on devices to allow you to develop your skills to what is needed in the workplace. Labs have been custom built to provide the best spaces to nurture the specific skills needed for game and internet development.
What will I study? You’ll study areas such as machine learning and artificial neural networks, data analysis, expert and fuzzy systems, which underpin AI systems development. However, this course also has its roots firmly in the field of computer science so you will also implement artificially intelligent machines, whether these are in the form of knowledge-based systems, intelligent agents or robots. In addition, throughout the course you will be encouraged to adopt recognised software engineering principles, which form the foundations of system development. We will also make sure that you have plenty of opportunity to put professional and ethical practices into action, including the appropriate adoption of software engineering principles.
The programme is distinctive in that as well as providing students with a strong theoretical background in AI, it also includes a significant practical element so students will learn to use a range of AI-related tools and professional development platforms. Furthermore, you are given the opportunity to understand and consider the role of AI in the wider, social context as well from the point of view of potential employers.
Across the course you will study a wide range of important components from theoretical concepts, critical and computational thinking, and the practical use of a range of AI-related software tools to examine real-world problems and challenges. You will also have the chance to explore the role of an AI expert in social and professional contexts.

Entry requirements | Applicants will be assessed on their academic qualifications although previous experience and interest in computing, IT, business or management is desirable. A typical offer will include 2:2 honours degree or equivalent qualification in computing, web development, computer sciences, software engineering, system engineering, mathematics with computer science, physics with computer science or a related discipline. Applicants who don’t meet the above requirements but have technical/management experience in industry could be considered (subject to interview). General Postgraduate Requirement for IELTS - 6.5 (6.0). |
