Summary
Birkbeck's Master's degree in health and clinical psychological sciences is designed for graduates with a background in psychology, neuroscience or health sciences. It is ideal if you want to deepen your understanding of cutting-edge contemporary research in health, including health psychology, applied neuroscience and neuropsychology, and the factors contributing to physical and mental health outcomes.
The course will strengthen your understanding of the methods and insights of contemporary health and clinical psychological sciences, including applied neuroscience. During the course you will:
-
develop your generic research skills
-
learn advanced quantitative and qualitative methods
-
study how best to design and evaluate interventions.
The emphasis is on mixed-method approaches and we will support you in developing a cross-disciplinary approach to appraising research and carrying out an extended critical review (MA) or conducting a research project (MSc) within an area of contemporary psychology. This involves formulating a research question, conducting a literature review, assessing arguments and the available evidence, and writing up your study in a format suitable for publication.
We offer different module combinations to give you the choice of studying for an MA or MSc.
