Inspire the next generation of language learners with our PGCE Secondary Modern Foreign Languages course.
This programme, part of our Initial Teacher Education (ITE), is designed to prepare you for a fulfilling career as a language teacher, equipping you with the skills needed to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Throughout the course, you will engage in both university-based learning and hands-on school placements, focusing on creative and effective methods of teaching, planning, and assessment.
Your personal language skills, whether in French, Spanish, German, or another modern foreign language, will be at the heart of your teaching. You will explore innovative ways to bring these languages to life in the classroom, using a variety of teaching techniques to engage and inspire your students.
The course also offers the opportunity to experience different teaching environments, including placements in both urban and rural schools, as well as Welsh-medium schools, providing you with a broad perspective on education.
The course covers teaching general science and specialising in biology for GCSEs and A-Levels. Experience a variety of teaching settings through urban and rural placements, including Welsh-medium schools. Professional teaching experience (PTE) and mentor support are essential, helping you grow as an educator.
Financial support is available through bursaries and scholarships. This course has been identified by the Welsh Government as a high priority subject area, and £15,000 bursaries are available.
