Summary
MA Character Animation at Central Saint Martins will teach you how to make your characters do much more than move - you will learn how to make them perform. The course focuses on animated performance, combining practical training with research and critical thinking. You will study timing, character design, storytelling, film language and life drawing, while exploring the psychology of movement and performance.
This course emphasises universal animation techniques that can be applied across a range of media and technologies. You will critically examine historical and contemporary contexts of animation, considering issues of representation, diversity and environmental responsibility.
Teaching is hands-on and collaborative. You will take part in lectures, workshops and group discussions, alongside live projects with external clients and opportunities to work with peers across the Performance programme. Graduates of MA Character Animation go on to work in film, television, games, advertising and independent practice.
