Summary
This experimental and interdisciplinary textiles course will focus on the creation of innovative textiles surfaces, constructions and structures for fashion. Through deep understanding, thorough testing and exploration of traditional craft processes alongside investigation into new material and technological fabric construction innovations, you’ll produce outcomes that demonstrate the future of fashion textiles. The aim is that you will utilise design process to make use of technologies to develop textiles in a variety of creative ways.
What to expect Building on over a century of expertise in technical textiles, this new course at LCF expands on the legacy of our renowned BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles, with specialist areas in knit, print, and embroidery. You’ll have access to the UK’s most extensive range of digital and craft industrial technology, allowing you to develop advanced technical skills across both traditional and cutting-edge methods.
You’ll take a holistic and analytical approach to your practice, exploring the cultural, social, and environmental impact of fashion textiles while developing sustainable, research-led design methods. With support from LCF’s Digital Anthropology Lab, Centre for Sustainable Fashion, and the Active Materials and Systems Research group, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation. Collaborative projects with industry partners, researchers, and peers will also be central to your learning experience, preparing you for a future-facing career in the fashion and textile industry.
