Summary
The translation services market is seeing a period of large growth, driven by a high demand for screen translation and accessibility services. Through our relationships with key industry players we understand the skills currently in demand by translation employers and have designed this masters degree to equip you with those specific skills.
The expertise we’ll help you develop go beyond an understanding of languages and translation, to encompass an understanding of workflow, professional standards and experience in using state-of-the-art translation software. You’ll be taught using the software programmes used by Sky, Zoo (who supply services to clients such as HBO, Disney and Paramount) and RWS, which is why many of our students go to on to work for these companies.
So if you have a flair for languages, a passion for communication and love working with new software, the Screen Translation MA could be your step into a translation career, or if you already work in this field it will equip you with the skills to take you to the next level.

Hear from our staff
"At Nottingham, we have a very well rounded translation offering. We cover everything from interlingual translation to translation across languages as well as audiovisual translation in the form of subtitling for deaf audiences and audio description for blind audiences. We also train students to use translation management software, the idea behind this is to give them a head start when they start applying for jobs." - Alex Mével, Associate Professor in Translation Studies.
