Our MSc Strength and Conditioning programme combines the core scientific foundations of the discipline with practical tools for success across a range of professional settings—from elite sport to health and wellbeing. With a strong focus on exercise for performance, health and rehabilitation, this programme equips you for a thriving career in the human performance and health sectors, both nationally and internationally.
This programme is endorsed globally by respected organisations, ensuring you graduate with both an academic qualification and internationally recognised professional credentials. As part of our National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) accreditation, you’ll complete the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist qualification. You’ll also gain practitioner status with the International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA), enhancing your global employability.
Our academic team delivers a research-led learning experience that reflects and shapes industry standards. Staff are affiliated with leading professional bodies including the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), and the NSCA. Our research actively supports professional athletes, giving you the opportunity to apply theory in high-performance environments.
You’ll train in our state-of-the-art sports science laboratories, featuring specialist equipment for physiology, biomechanics, and biochemistry. From dedicated sport facilities to advanced diagnostic tools, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a professional-grade setting.
You’ll develop clinical lab skills using equipment for blood analysis, biomechanical assessments, and performance diagnostics—essential for evaluating and enhancing athletic performance.

You will be able to join the Sports Science Research group, apply for an internship in professional sports centres or the NHS working as a physiologist in a health team.
