Summary
Our MSc in Data Science equips graduates to embark on highly skilled careers in data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Our MSc in Data Science is a forward-thinking programme designed to equip you with the technical skills, analytical mindset, and ethical awareness needed to thrive in today’s data-driven world. Whether you're looking to transition into data science or deepen your expertise, this course offers a rich blend of foundational knowledge and emerging technologies.
You’ll begin with core modules that build your expertise in programming, machine learning, big data, data visualisation, and statistical methods for time series analysis. You’ll also explore the ethical dimensions of data science and develop essential academic and professional skills to support your success. The programme culminates in a substantial MSc Project, where you’ll apply your learning to a real-world challenge.
To tailor your experience, you’ll choose one module from each of two specialist groups. In the first, you can explore either Clouds, Grids and Virtualisation or Blockchain for FinTech Applications—both offering insight into the technologies shaping the future of data infrastructure and finance. In the second, you’ll choose between Technologies for Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime or Graph and Modern Databases, allowing you to specialise in either financial data applications or advanced database systems.
All modules include scheduled lab sessions, ensuring that you gain hands-on, practical experience throughout your studies. We also provide dedicated machines specifically for data scientists, capable of handling large datasets and complex computations—so you’ll be working in an environment that mirrors real-world industry settings.
You’ll be studying on an incredible campus, alongside a diverse and international cohort. Many of our students come from industry backgrounds and are returning to formal education to advance their careers, creating a rich learning environment where ideas and experiences are shared across generations and cultures.
Beyond the academic and practical benefits, investing in a master’s degree can significantly boost your career prospects. Graduates with an MSc typically command higher starting salaries than those with only a bachelor’s degree, making your one-year investment in further study a smart and rewarding decision.
