Understand what defines mental health economics as an active and distinct subfield of health economics and the main principles and best practices for mental health policy appraisals.
Gain a critical understanding of the core issues in mental health and health economics and of the key policy approaches available to tackle mental health problems.
Understand and discuss the core features of mental health service delivery with a specific emphasis on psychological medicine for the treatment of mental disorders.
Apply economic theoretical concepts to mental health and analyze and evaluate alternative economic policies to tackle mental health issues.
Apply the learned practices in projects, briefings, policy proposals, experiments or interventions of their own (e.g., in their dissertation or future employment).

Master of Research - MRes
Summary
The MSc Economics is a specialist masters degree designed to provide you with rigorous training in theoretical and applied economics.
It is suitable for students who either intend to pursue doctoral studies or are planning a career as research economists in academia, the public sector, international institutions, economic consulting, the financial industry, think tanks, or other research centres.
Students build on their undergraduate or postgraduate training by completing three compulsory modules in macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics both in the first and in the second term.
Students can also choose from a selection of option modules that cover a range of topics in applied economic research. Students also conduct original research to fulfil the substantial dissertation component of the degree.
This Economics masters degree will develop your economics expertise to the highest level.

| Entry requirements | Sudents admitted to the MRes Economics programme will normally have achieved high marks on a postgraduate degree in economics or a related field comparable to SEF's MSc Economics in terms of content and quality. In particular, they should have a thorough knowledge of MSc-level macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics. A good knowledge of topics in mathematics and statistical theory relevant to economics. Please note that applicants to the PhD programme are automatically re-routed to the MRes Economics or MRes Finance (as appropriate) unless they already hold a comparable post-MSc qualification. Applications for admission should include an application form, full transcripts (showing marks for individual courses) from all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, at least one letter from a referee who can assess your academic potential, a research proposal of no more than 1500 words, proof that you meet the School’s English language requirements, applicants are also strongly recommended to submit GRE scores obtained in last five years (please upload in the qualifications section of the online application). No additional application material is needed to be considered for financial support but explicit reference should be made on the application if financial support is sought. |
