University of Chichester professor is international textiles expert
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Chichester has been made an Honorary Member of The 62 Group of Textile Artists, an organisation devoted to excellence in textile art.
Professor Catherine Harper has joined the international artist-led organisation, which aims to incorporate and challenge the boundaries of textile practice through an annual program of exhibitions.
She is delighted with her exciting new membership, enthusing, “I am a long-standing admirer of the work of The 62 Group and its championing of true creativity in textile art. I am delighted to have been selected to become an Honorary Member and I look forward sharing thoughts, ideas and creative output with the organisation.”
Speaking of this exciting appointment, Debbie Lyddon, Chair of The 62 Group adds, “The 62 Group of Textile Artists very much looks forward to fostering a relationship with Catherine Harper that develops and promotes textile practice across the creative and cultural industries. Our AGM agreed that Professor Harper has made an outstanding contribution to the development of Textile Art. This is a prestigious position and she will be joining, amongst others, Professor Lesley Millar MBE and Professor Anne Morrell in the role.”
Professor Harper is a Professor of Textiles and holds a PhD in Composite Textile Engineering, is Editor-in-Chief of the Routledge journal TEXTILE: Cloth & Culture, and author/edited the four volume Textiles: Critical and Primary Sources for Bloomsbury (2012).
