Keele University alumni and honorary graduates celebrated in New Year Honours
Five alumni and three honorary graduates of Keele University have had their achievements celebrated in the 2018 New Year Honours for services to health, education, design, broadcasting and politics.
The impressive list of alumni received a selection of honours. Angela Pedder, OBE, who completed her MBA Health Executive at Keele in 1998, was awarded a DBE (Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to healthcare. Professor Richard English studied his PhD in Keele in 1990 and was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services to the understanding of modern day terrorism and political history. Colin Roy Hopkins, Dr Tracey Cooper and Dr Sanjiv Shridhar were all awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). Mr Hopkins completed his MBA Education at Keele in 2006 and received his for services to education. Dr Cooper received her MBE for services to midwifery; she finished her BSc in Midwifery at Keele in 1999. Finally, Dr Shridhar was awarded an MBE for services to primary care, he completed his MBA Health Executive (Health Planning and Management) at Keele in 1994.
The three Keele University honorary graduates to be recognised in the New Year honours are Professor Richard Lilford, who was awarded a CBE for services to health research; Professor Richard Sennett who received an OBE for services to design; and Lord Melvyn Bragg who was appointed as a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour for services to broadcasting and the arts.
