This integrated course equips you to pass the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and thrive in modern legal practice. Through two focused modules, Foundations and Applications of Legal Knowledge (SQE1) and Legal Skills and Legal Practice (SQE2), you’ll receive hands-on preparation, including access to an interactive online platform packed with resources, sample questions and skills-based exercises.

You’ll also connect with practising solicitors and industry experts through guest speaker sessions and networking events. SQE preparation - The SQE is difficult to pass without support and lots of practice. We make sure you have access to not only the information you need, but the opportunity to complete practice questions and develop the skills you need for your practical assessments.

Flexibility - We offer this course in full-time and part-time modes. This flexible approach enables you to both work and manage your personal commitments while studying.

Optionality - You can choose optional modules based on topics that are not assessed during the SQE. This gives you the opportunity to gain knowledge in areas of law you may wish to pursue once you qualify as a solicitor, such as family law or employment law.

Varied assessments - This course has no formal examinations, sitting the SQE is done separately to the course. You’ll be assessed in a variety of different ways such as creating reflective portfolios, recorded submissions, essays and timed online assessments.

Professional facilities - You’ll have access to professional facilities such as our state-of-the-art moot courtroom and client interviewing rooms to help you develop your practical skills for your SQE assessments.

Solicitor route
If you are interested in qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales, this course will help you prepare to take the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE 1 and 2). You will study our following SQE preparatory units:

Foundations and Applications of Legal Knowledge (SQE 1)

Legal Skills and Legal Practice (SQE 2)
These units are specifically designed to prepare you for the external examinations set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)*.
Flexible course
We offer this course in full-time and part-time modes of study to make the course more accessible to all students. If you are a full-time student, you will undertake the course on an intensive basis over one year, while part-time students can spread their studies over two years. This flexible approach enables you to both work and manage your personal commitments while studying.
For the purposes of the LLM Legal Practice an academic year is a full calendar year running from September to September across three semesters.
*Please be aware that the SQE 1 and SQE 2 assessments are run by the SRA. If you wish to undertake these assessments then you must register and pay for them separate to this course. Manchester Met has no control over when the assessments take place, the location, cost or any administrative procedures related to the SQE assessments.
