From simple automation tools to advanced models capable of processing natural language, artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly and has become a major part of everyday life.
Thanks to ongoing research and technological development, AI is now essential to how businesses and institutions operate. It’s also a key part of Industry 4.0, with government estimates suggesting AI could contribute £47 billion to the UK economy each year (gov.uk).
Our MSc Artificial Intelligence course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to be at the forefront of these developments. You’ll learn to design, implement and evaluate intelligent systems capable of data-driven decision-making, while developing computational and algorithmic thinking to build AI-driven solutions for real-world challenges.

From driverless cars to voice recognition, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly and has become part of our everyday lives. With the research and development of new technologies, AI is fast becoming an essential part of how businesses and institutions operate. It is also becoming a vital part of Industry 4.0, with the government estimating that AI could contribute £232bn to the UK economy by 2030.
On our MSc Artificial Intelligence degree, you’ll be taught by academics who are experts in the area – many of whom are currently conducting research as part of our Advanced Computational Science research group. This ensures that our curriculum is based on research-informed content at the cutting edge of this fast-paced field.
This course will build on your existing computing knowledge. We aim to equip you with the fundamental principles of AI so that you’re able to critically evaluate the theories, techniques, tools and systems used in the field, and the interdisciplinary applications, allowing you to specialise according to your individual interests.
You’ll also complete an in-depth masters project with the support of our academic and technical team. By the time you complete our postgraduate degree in AI, you’ll be well placed to succeed in this high growth industry and ready to tackle the contemporary challenges facing businesses and society.
Features and benefits - Optional Placement Year – This course is available with an optional industrial placement year, giving you the chance to tailor your knowledge to suit a specific industry or skill-set. This is an excellent opportunity to put theory into practice and gain transferable workplace skills, providing a real boost to your CV when you graduate. A placement fee of £1,850 applies.
