Royal Entomological Society Recognition for Dr Karim Vahed

Dr Karim Vahed, programme leader for the MSc Conservation Biology, has been elected to become a fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.

Dr Karim Vahed has been recognised for his ‘substantial contribution to the study of insects through publication and other works’. He joins the ranks of esteemed Fellows of the Royal Entomological Society, which have included Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

Karim’s research has focused on the selective pressures responsible for the evolution of certain sexual characteristics and behaviours in different species of cricket. His research behind nuptial feeding behaviour and the evolutionary significance of lengthy copulation duration have been of significant interest.
