Summary

Prepare for a range of legal careers, including as a barrister, solicitor or CILEX lawyer, with a course that combines academic study and simulated professional practice.

Law with Professional Practice MLaw is designed for students with a clear interest in legal practice. The course combines academic study with simulated professional practice to help you build the knowledge, skills and professional understanding needed for future legal careers, including preparation for the Solicitor’s Qualifying Examinations (SQE) and the CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ) professional stage. 

Studying this course also keeps open a route towards becoming a CILEX lawyer, giving you more than one way to progress into legal practice after university. 

The course aims to help you: 

  • develop the legal knowledge and professional skills needed for legal practice  

  • build a strong understanding of professional ethics and codes of conduct  

  • apply your learning through a combination of academic study and simulated professional practice.

Develop advocacy skills: Hone your criminal advocacy skills in our mock courtroom, known as the Moot Room. 

Build practical legal experience: Selected students can apply to volunteer in one of our pro bono clinics, gaining practical legal experience under the supervision of trained solicitors and lawyers. 

Grow your professional network: Raising the Bar is designed to help you gain insight into the legal field, attend events and connect with legal professionals.
