Summary

From computer animation, media production and engineering to communication, computer science and journalism, our Faculty of Media, Science & Technology offers many opportunities for doctoral of philosophy research across a wide range of specialisms.

The research strategy in the faculty is aligned with Bournemouth University’s 2025 vision and strategic plan; a plan that stresses real-world impact, the enrichment of society and the economy, and advancing knowledge to significantly influence challenges world-wide.

Research projects within the faculty have had a significant impact on a number of worldwide issues including digital and technological futures; The implications of 3D printing for Intellectual Property, Afterglow, The impact of digital technologies on readers and reading and global security; Tear gas, policing and human rights.

As well as conducting research within the faculty, we also work closely with colleagues from other specialisms through our research institutes and centres as well as with other universities, helping to deliver impactful and relevant research projects.
