The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-2012 have been published

If you are trying to work out what institution you want to study at, you might be interested in looking at the recently published World University Rankings from Times Higher Education.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings were developed together with their rankings data provider, Thomson Reuters. There is also expert input from more than 50 leading figures in the sector who represent every continent in the world.

There are 13 different performance indicators used to rank these top universities and these broadly come under five headings: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); Industry income (innovation); and International outlook (staff, students and research).

There is much debate over the way that various university rankings tables are compiled, and whether they do in fact offer a fair portrayal of the universities in question. But it can't be denied that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the most respected rankings systems. Obviously another important consideration is postgraduate program rankings .
