FT rankings reveal drop in MBA students
The Financial Times have recently published somewhat shocking news about the popularity of UK business schools. Their report has revealed that the number of students applying to MBA programs in the UK is decreasing, and it remains uncertain whether this trend will cease in the future.
Based on the survey investigating 16 business schools across the UK, it was found that enrolment rates for UK students have declined by 15%, whereas a 10% decrease was recorded for international students. The new stricter immigration controls may bear partial responsibility for this worrying trend, although the new immigration rules cannot explain the sudden drop in the number of UK students willing to undertake an MBA.
Another possible explanation is that the current financial crisis shaking the grounds of Europe has taken its toll on the aspiring business students as more and more of them are struggling to ensure the financial means for undertaking their studies.
However, only time will tell.
