Earn Your Masters Whilst Teaching English Abroad
If you are planning to leave the UK to teach English abroad it does not mean that you have to put your studies on hold. The postgraduate system has evolved in recent years, and this means that there are many options available to students who wish to study for their master’s degree whilst teaching abroad, including work placements, foreign university enrolment, and distance learning courses .
Choosing to teach English abroad whilst you study for your master’s degree will not only give you valuable life and work experience, but will also look fantastic on your CV.
Course Work Experience
One of the most popular ways to combine the two activities is by enrolling on a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This is a superb course for teachers who are wishing to take on a new challenge and teach English as a foreign language as it allows students to gain their master’s degree whilst working in a paid position in an overseas school. There are other language, teaching, and business courses which enable you to work abroad during your studies, and this can be an exciting way to conduct your studies as it gives you the opportunity to experience different cultures, education systems, and to really test yourself in a new environment. Depending on the specific course requirements, you may need to secure a foreign English teaching position before you can enrol on a course as this is an integral part of the process.
Complete a Course at a Foreign Institute
If you are able to secure a job teaching English in a foreign country, why not enrol to study for a master’s degree at a foreign institute ? This is a great way to advance your education whilst you are working abroad and experiencing new challenges in life. It is important to check that the institute you are enrolling in is internationally accredited to ensure that your master’s degree will be recognised when you return back to the UK.
Distance Learning Master’s Degree
Due to the increased popularity of distance learning courses, students enrolling in online master’s degree courses are able to take on English teaching jobs abroad in order to help fund their studies and to gain life experience during this time. Distance learning courses require a lot of self motivation, but also provide many benefits as they offer much more study flexibility and location independence.
