Applying for a Chevening Scholarship
Chevening Scholarships are prestigious UK government-funded awards that support international students in pursuing masters degree courses at UK universities, with the long-term aim of developing future global leaders. They are funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations and cover full financial support for students from over 160 countries to study postgraduate programs in the UK. This includes tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs and other allowances for full-time, on-campus, one-year masters degrees. Successful applicants are selected based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and their commitment to making a positive impact in their home countries.
2025 application window closing soon
For the 2025 intake, the application window closes on Tuesday 5th November 2024 – so there is just over two weeks left to get your application in.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply for a Chevening Scholarship, applicants must pass an initial eligibility check, which includes being a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country, committing to return to your home country for at least two years after completing the degree, having a minimum of two years’ work experience, holding an undergraduate degree (or equivalent overseas qualification), and applying to three eligible UK masters programs.
To find eligible masters degree courses, prospective students can use Chevening’s ‘Find a course’ search tool, which lists UK-based, full-time courses starting in the autumn term 2025 that lead to a taught masters degree.
