7 Great Ways to Get Your Postgraduate Self Out of Bed

Do you struggle to get out of bed in the morning?

Since your doling out the big bucks for postgraduate study , you're going to want to make sure you get yourself up and actually doing something productive with your day.

Squeeze every last drop out of your postgraduate life by following these helpful tips to get out of bed each morning....

Practice Makes Perfect

Like with anything in life, practice makes perfect. If you're someone who usually sleeps straight through the alarm clock, you're going to need to teach your body how to wake up on signal. A great way to do this is to get yourself ready for bed during the day, curl up as if you're going to sleep, and set your alarm for ten minutes later. Before long your body will wake up immediately.

Position the Alarm on the Other Side of the Room

This ingenious method requires you to get out of bed to shut that ridiculously annoying alarm up. No more mindless snoozing! Once you're out of bed, hopefully you won't feel an urge to crawl back under the duvet.

Arrange to Meet People

There is no better incentive than the thought of standing someone up. Arrange to meet your friends or a study buddy early, let's say 10am at the library (we've got to be realistic) - now you have something to aim for.

Spice Up the Alarm Tone

Yeah, we know you've taken a fancy to the tone that makes you feel like your chilling out in a Zen garden, but it's just not ideal for motivating you out of bed in the morning. Think disgusted and disturbed. This way going back to sleep will be the last thing on your mind!

Get Your Clothes Ready

Okay so you're not in primary school anymore, but not knowing what you're going to wear can be an easy way to avoid pulling the covers back on. Plan your look for the following day the night before, and you'll be able to streamline the getting up process.

Go To Bed Earlier

It may sound obvious, but for those of you making the bedroom a battleground every morning, an earlier night may be the solution to all your problems. Most people need an average of 8 hours sleep, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to put a 2 1/2 hour movie on at 1am.

Enlist Help

If you absolutely have to get out of bed and fear you may not be able to then enlist the help of housemates, friends or even family. Whether you have your roomies physically come and shake you back to life or ask your sister to ring you repeatedly until you answer, this may be your only option.

Are you much of a morning person?
