This is the study of the prevention and development of fire and includes different aspects of human and animal behaviour during fires. Some courses in this field have an international basis, whilst others have a more local focus, such as bush/forest fires or industrial fires, depending on the training needs of the country. MSc programs in Fire Safety Engineering are available at a selection of universities worldwide, including the University of Central Lancaster in England, the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, Western Sydney University in Australia and the University of Maryland in the USA.
