The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting at Aberystwyth University is a three-year full-time programme which gives you the platform to conduct original academic research that makes a new contribution to your specific field of study. You can make new discoveries, test new theories and push the boundaries of current knowledge and understanding.
Members of staff are always happy to discuss possible PhD and MPhil research programmes in Accounting with suitably qualified graduates.
Research should normally be related to one of the main areas of research of the department.
Your research will be guided by a supervisory team, who will help you refine your research proposal, and guide you in data collection and analysis. At the end of your studies, you will have a viva voce exam (a verbal defence of your thesis).

Aberystwyth is committed to the provision of an appropriate level of training for all its postgraduate students. As part of this commitment, the University has established a programme designed to help students develop the skills required to successfully complete their research degrees and also to improve their future employability. As such, all research postgraduates will undertake some institutionally-provided research training modules as part of the Researcher Development Programme.
