Course description You'll gain an in-depth understanding of process safety, loss prevention and risk assessment to manage major hazard events and ensure safety in complex industrial environments. The programme covers conducting hazard analyses, modelling incident consequences and implementing protective systems.
A key focus is the critical role of human error, where you'll gain practical skills in its assessment and reduction to improve operational reliability and safety. The programme also includes emergency planning and the application of safety principles across the entire project lifecycle.
Established over 25 years ago in collaboration with the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Health and Safety Executive, this unique programme is taught by leading experts. Our teaching staff bring decades of practical experience from specialist consultancies and major industries, ensuring you receive an education that is both academically rigorous and directly relevant to professional practice.
You'll also undertake a major research project with expert supervision, providing the opportunity to conduct unique and impactful research. These projects can often involve collaboration with an industry partner, giving you the chance to make a real difference.
