Summary
The programme provides you with an understanding of contemporary information and records management issues. It pays special attention to the management of digital records and electronic resources, and how to manage these alongside analogue resources.
WHY THIS PROGRAMME The programme is designed to put students in the strongest possible position to seek a role in Archives, Records & Information Management, Digital Curation and related fields, upon graduation. Throughout the programme we aim to provide further experience in these contexts, either through traditional placements for coursework or your dissertation, or through virtual placements working with archives and similar organisations.
As a graduate of the MSc or PGDip you will be eligible to be accredited by both the Archives & Records Association and CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals), providing valuable professional recognition in both the archive and library fields.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The programme consists of six courses spread over two semesters.
You will take courses in: ARCHIVES AND RECORDS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT RECORDS AND EVIDENCE DESCRIPTION, CATALOGUING AND NAVIGATION MANAGEMENT, CURATION & PRESERVATION OF DIGITAL MATERIALS
Optional courses may include, but are limited to: 2D DIGITISATION: THEORY & PRACTICE (PGT) LAW, INFORMATION GOVERNANCE AND COLLECTIONS ARCHIVES & RECORDS THEORY DOCUMENT ENCODING EARLY MODERN PALAEOGRAPHY
To graduate with the MSc you will also need to complete a dissertation.
