Summary
This one-year postgraduate course qualifies you to be a secondary teacher of music in England and Wales.
The University of East London’s postgraduate music education is unique. UEL’s bespoke music education provision is a pioneer amongst teacher education providers as it remains alert to incoming events, being both proactive and reactive in ‘real-time’.
Throughout the course, there remains a strong emphasis on the maintenance and development of your individual musical identity, personality and musicianship. This is nurtured through the provision of expert practitioner support with musicological and focused academic guidance.
Uniquely the subject-specific components are not overly ‘pre-determined’, it is a ‘live programme’ which aims to iteratively adapt its content to reflect rapid contextual shifts in music, society and technology as you graduate. This purposive ‘flexible design’ prepares you with the required pedagogic agility to effectively enthuse and enable the next ‘A.I. native’ generation of musicians.
This course is both ’ hands-on’ practical and a philosophical fusion of traditional musicianship and technological creativity to ‘pioneer futures’ during this accelerating ‘paradigm shift’ in how we all learn, teach and share the power of music.
