Summary

Our intensive one-year MSc Management with a specialism in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability is for graduates from a wide range of subject backgrounds. It is not necessary to have any prior academic or practical experience in business or management. This programme is for students who aspire to management-level roles in CSR and Sustainability within their chosen industry.

Our MSc Management pathways provide an introduction to management followed by a detailed exploration of a specific area of management theory and practice, in this case, CSR and sustainability. This programme attracts students globally, and you will be part of a cohort with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests.

You will develop an in-depth understanding of the theories and practices that underpin responsible business conduct in organisations. Through engagement with external organisations, you will immerse in the discussions that shape their strategies. This includes critically evaluating challenges they are currently facing and reporting your results to the organisation. Responsible business conduct areas that might be addressed include interconnected social and environmental challenges to business, and business and human rights.

We aim to guide, teach, and develop analytical and confident critical thinkers. You will gain insight into the nature of responsible business conduct and apply theory to practice through in-class discussions and immersions with external organisations. Problem-based learning, based on live industry case studies, allows practical application of theory and develops the teamwork and communication skills expected in today's workplace.

This programme will help you to:

  • Apply management techniques drawn from a range of disciplines such as marketing, operations, organisational behaviour, strategy, finance, and accounting to management in organisations.

  • Understand the nature of management, the complexity of organisations, and management’s role and responsibility in addressing global societal challenges.

  • Reflect upon the responsible business conduct challenges organisations face and engage with ethical and sustainability issues.

  • Prepare for a career in management and leadership roles in your chosen industry with expert knowledge in your specialist subject.

Graduates will benefit from studying at a top 10 UK university (QS World University Rankings 2026). You will be taught by leading academics whose research tackles the global societal issues facing modern management. A high percentage of our business and management research is rated as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent' (REF 2021), reflecting its impact on shaping policy and practice.

Teaching for this postgraduate programme will be delivered at our new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, opening 2026. Here, enhanced links with industry and collaborative learning spaces will provide students with real-world knowledge, networks and skills to succeed once you graduate. Depending on your choice of optional units, you may also be taught on the Clifton Campus.
