Summary
Ireland has evolved into one of the world’s most important centres for high-tech businesses. The ICT sector in Ireland is a thriving and growing industry with 9 of the top 10 global ICT companies maintaining a presence in Ireland. The economic contribution of the sector is substantial. The ICT industry is responsible for approximately 25% of Ireland’s total turnover, representing one-third of Ireland’s exports by value. This ME in Electronic & Computer Engineering is a two-year programme designed to develop professional engineers who can excel in the electronic and computer sectors worldwide.
Delivered by a highly research-intensive School composed of many internationally high-profile academics including five IEEE Fellows. This two-year programme provides 6-8 months’ professional work experience as an embedded element of the programme and you will gain an advanced understanding of a broad range of areas within electronic and computer engineering, and develop your skills in design, innovation and problem solving. A range of advanced topics from electronic engineering, computer science and business with options that allow you to tailor your degree to suit your interests.

| Entry requirements | An undergraduate honours degree (NFQ level 8) with a minimum upper second class honours or international equivalence in an Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering programme. Applicants whose first language is not English must also demonstrate English language proficiency of IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0 in each element), or equivalent. Students meeting the programme’s academic entry requirements but not the English language requirements, may enter the programme upon successful completion of UCD’s Pre-Sessional or International Pre-Master’s Pathway programmes.
