Summary
Research into materials and processes can cover the design, synthesis and processing of materials, as well as biomedical and process engineering, bringing together researchers from materials science and chemical, mechanical and bio-engineering.
Research in this area can advance engineering applications of materials and processes with a focus on important societal challenges, ranging from reducing greenhouse gas emissions, to sustainable energy, clean water, and healthcare.
As a Masters by Research (MScR) student, you will spend the duration of this programme working on a research project. An MScR programme allows you to gain specialist knowledge in your research area, and is sometimes taken as a precursor to a PhD.
You will conduct your research as part of the Institute for Materials and Processes, whose work develops and integrates experimental, computational and theoretical methods to shed light on and engineer solutions for global challenges related to materials and processes.
