Swansea University ranked in top 200 worldwide in prestigious rankings
Swansea University has ranked within the top 200 in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022.
Times Higher Education ranks university performance on a global stage and grades the three main missions of university activity: research, teaching, and impact. The Impact Rankings capture universities’ impact on society based on institutions’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
In its fourth year, the Impact Rankings assess universities against all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). The rankings assess universities across a broad range of metrics including research output, sustainability metrics, policies, outreach, and partnership work. A total of 1,406 institutions were ranked in the 2022 rankings, with universities needing to rank in at least 4 of the 17 strategic development goals to be included in the overall table.
This is the first year Swansea has participated in these rankings and the University has ranked in the top 200 overall and within the top 20 for three SDGs highlighting our strength in these areas:
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production - 14th
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions - 14th
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities - 18th
Professor Helen Griffiths, Swansea University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Impact comments, “It is great to see that we are succeeding in our challenge to be a sustainable institution here at Swansea. This first year ranking highlights that Swansea’s research is making an impact locally and globally and that our responsible practises across the institution are enabling us to become more sustainable. It is wonderful to see the hard work of our teams across the University being recognised in these results.”
