UCLAre you interested in a career in teaching?

IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, offers PGCEs in Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Further Education.

Our unique gradual approach, carefully chosen placements and the constant support from our lecturers, tutors and school mentors will allow you to start teaching in just one year. Funding for Teacher Training courses

Trainee teachers can apply for a scholarship or bursary of up to £30,000 from the Department for Education (DfE), depending on your course and degree classification. These are tax-free amounts of money you receive to train in certain subjects.

This year, the DfE have reintroduced £10,000 tax-free bursaries in art and design, music and religious education.

Join our Teacher Training Open Event to find out more about our PGCE programmes and details for a scholarship or bursary. At these events, UCL will be offering talks on their PGCEs, admissions process and funding queries.

A history of making a difference

IOE has been at the forefront of teacher education since it was founded in 1902. Today, we are one of the UK’s largest providers of postgraduate initial teacher education. Our student teachers get to experience the amazing benefits of living in London and working in the capital’s diverse and exciting schools and colleges. More London schools chose to partner with IOE for teacher training placements than any other university.

Our partners have worked with us for many years and continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to educating the next generation of teachers in partnership with IOE. The opportunity to learn from pupils and colleagues in diverse contexts means that you are well prepared to teach in any school, college or early years setting after you graduate from IOE.
